Big Sing 2018

This year Rising Voices Wessex Big Sing will be held at Bournemouth School for Girls on Sunday June 24th at 9.30 am for registration 10am till 3.15 pm for rehearsal of a medley of songs from the musicals and a performance at 4pm for family and friends.

This event is open to anyone with an interest in music and singing so do come and join us.

Tickets for the Big Sing are £15 for the day including lunch, for those coming to the performance at 4pm just £5.

We are very pleased to welcome our Musical Director for the day Gavin Carr.

Gavin is Music Director of the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus, Bath Minerva Choir, and Founder-Director of Chorus Angelorum. He is a guest conductor with the BBC Symphony Chorus, the London Symphony Chorus and the Philharmonia Chorus. He is a member of the vocal faculty of the Royal Academy of Music, where he currently teaches classes in English Song and the Oratorio repertoire. His schedule includes opera and concert performances in Europe and further afield, workshops and masterclasses across the UK, and affiliations with colleges such as Chetham's School of Music, Hawkwood College, and Bath Spa University. He is well known for his humour and bringing a light touch to workshop days.

The Musical Accompanist for the day will be Christopher Dowie who is well known as an accompanist, conductor and organist. He is assistant Chorus Master for the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus and has played for the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra for a number of years. He is the founder and conductor of the Wimborne Choral Society and regularly plays for a number of local societies.

Gavin and Christopher will be joined by Ali Sharpe - Musical Director for Rising Voices Wessex.

Ali Sharpe has been leading Bournemouth and Poole Rising Voices Wessex choirs for the last three years and in the past has taught music in schools and a local theatre school. Her skills also include arranging and composing specially commissioned vocal music, which have been showcased at various local events.
